Challenge:
- The challenge was twofold: on the one hand, to modernize and enrich the user experience in the hotels, and on the other hand, to offer a solution that would result in a more efficient and consistent integration of hotel operations. Although the hotels were already using an efficient reservation management system, the connection to a CMS for the screens was not direct. Our goal was to develop an application that would seamlessly integrate the two systems, facilitating the centralization and automation of information on interactive screens. This would not only improve the user experience by providing relevant and accessible information, but also optimize the hotel’s internal management, making the process more efficient and cost-effective.
Research:
- Analysis of the Current Environment and User Needs: I conducted a detailed study on how hotels managed their reservations and visual communication. This involved gathering feedback and needs from end users (hotel guests) and hotel staff, so that the proposed solution would effectively address their expectations and requirements.
- Technology and Compatibility Assessment: I explored various CMS solutions and analyzed their compatibility with the Oracle system. This evaluation was key to find the most effective and efficient way to integrate both technologies.
- Intermediary Feasibility Study: I investigated the technical feasibility of developing an intermediate solution. This analysis focused on optimizing workflows and reducing costs, ensuring that the final solution was not only functional and efficient, but also cost-effective for the hotel.
Approach
- Project Start: Collaboration with a leading hotel management company to implement screens at key points such as meeting rooms, receptions and room doors.
- Solution Development: Proposal for integration of a CMS with the OperaCloud platform, focused on the meetings and events module.
- Design and Prototyping: Working together with the development team to create an interface that would allow the automatic update of content on hotel information monitors using for this purpose mainly FIGMA, later I had to prepare a functional mockup at Mastel’s facilities to demonstrate with two Samsung monitors under the CMS MagicInfo, the correct operation of the solution, being this, a resounding success.
Results:
- Efficiency and Effectiveness: Successful implementation of the project, resulting in more efficient management, improved timelines and reduced costs.
- Improved User Experience: User-centric design, significantly improving the hotel guest experience.
- Innovation and Profitability: Solution that not only solves the initial challenges but also brings innovative and profitable value to the client.
This project has been an incredible opportunity to combine design, technology and teamwork. I am deeply grateful to all the collaborators, whose expertise and dedication have been fundamental to the success of this initiative.
